On 15 October 2014, Professor Jerzy Tiuryn of the Institute of Informatics of University of Warsaw was the guest lecturer, having accepted the invitation of the Group of Logic, Language and Information of Opole University. Professor Jerzy Tiuryn is the Head of the Computational Biology Group at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw.

Gabriel Sandu is a professor in the Department of Philosophy, History, Culture and Art Studies, University of Helsinki, Finland. On 8 April 2014, Dr Janusz Maciaszek of the Institute of Philosophy of Łódź University was the guest lecturer, having accepted the invitation of the Group of Logic, Language and Information of Opole University. During the meeting, which was co-organized by Opole Branch of the Polish Philosophical Society, Dr J. Maciaszek delivered the lecture entitled Some arguments against non referential semantics. Professor Jerzy Pogonowski of Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań visited Opole on 14 May 2013, in connection with regular meetings organized by the Opole Group of Logic, Language and Information. Robert Piłat of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The meeting was organized by the Institute of Psychology of Opole University and the Group of Logic, Language and Information (GLLI). The lecturer of the day, Professor R. On 7 June 2011 the Group of Logic, Language and Information of Opole University had a great pleasure to host Prof. dr hab. Aleksander Szwedek of Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań. The co-host of the meeting was the Institute of English and American Studies of Opole University. At 12.30 the meeting began in the meeting room of Opole University Senate located in Collegium Maius, during which the Guest of the Day delivered his lecture under the title Why do we speak metaphorically?

prof. Grzegorczyk

On 17 May 2011 the Group of Logic, Language and Information of Opole University were honoured to host Prof. dr hab. Andrzej Grzegorczyk, professor emeritus of the Polish Academy of Science of Warsaw, who had kindly accepted the invitation to deliver a lecture under the title The role of logic within the structure of the condition of human existence, within the Golden Series of open lectures which are held under the auspices of Prof. Krystyna Czaja, the Rector of Opole University. The lecture began, in compliance with the established custom, at 12.30, and afterwards the invited guest met members of the GLLI during a seminar held in the meeting room of the Senate of Opole University.

On 22 February 2011, the Group of Logic, Language and Information at Opole University hosted Professor Krzysztof Wieczorek of Silesian University of Katowice. The co-host of the meeting was the Institute of Political Sciences and Philosophy of Opole University. The meeting was held in Room 20 of Collegium Civitas of Opole University at 12.30, where Prof. K. Wieczorek delivered his lecture under the title Language of political discourse in post-totalitarian Poland.

The visit of a delegation from Amsterdam

On 23-26 January 2011, the Opole Group of Logic, Language and Information (GLLI) hosted a group of representatives of the Standing Committee of the European Schools of Logic, Language and Information (ESSLLI) from Amsterdam: the President – Professor Paul Dekker, and Professor Sophia Katrenko. The purpose of the visit, the so-called site-visit, was to verify the compliance of the data included in the project of organizing the 24th ESSLLI School’2012 in Opole, which was submitted by the Opole GLLI, with the real conditions on the spot; the project itself had already been initially approved by the Standing Committee.

The 10th meeting of the GLLI
prof. Woleński

On 11 January 2011, at 12.30, a meeting of the members and supporters of the Group of Logic, Language and Information (GLLI) was held in room 20 of Collegium Civitas. It was the first meeting in this calendar year and the 10th successive one, the co-organizer of which was the Opole Branch of the Polish Philosophical Society (PTF).

The special guest was Professor Jan Woleński (of the Jagiellonian University), who delivered a lecture under the title Logic and Cognition.

The lecture, under the title Inexpressible longing for the intended model, was organized by the Group of Logic, Language and Information.

The Fourth Meeting of the GLLI

The meeting held at Blue Auditorium of Collegium Maius of Opole University on 15 April was opened by Prof. Urszula Wybraniec-Skardowska with the words, “Today, our meeting with Professor Wojciech Suchoń of Jagiellonian University is taking place at a special moment, when Poland is facing a peculiar logic of her history, when we are observing national mourning, when we all are shocked by the tragedy that occurred in Smolensk – professors, students and members of the Group of Logic, Language and Information.

The Second Meeting of the GLLI
prof. Muszyński

On 18 February 2010, at 12.30, in the Blue Assembly Hall of Collegium Maius of Opole University, Prof. dr hab. Zbysław Muszyński of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin delivered his interdisciplinary lecture under the title The naturalization of communication. The meaning, content and information in the world of relations of causal relations [connections]. This open lecture was organized by the Group of Logic, Language and Information and the Opole Branch of The Polish Philosophical Society.

Inaugural meeting of the Opole Group of Logic, Language and Information

On 14 January 2010, in the building of Collegium Maius of Opole University, there was held the ceremonial meeting of the Opole Group of Logic, Language and Information. In the beautiful historical Plafond Chamber, the founders of the Group gathered together with invited guests, among others: Prof. dr hab. Piotr Wieczorek - Vice-President of Opole University in charge of Research and International Relations, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Institutes and individual Professors. The meeting was also attended by adjuncts and students of doctoral studies representing various Institutes, who are interested in the activity of the Group.
